Short answer: for a one-bedroom move rent a 10×10 ($65/month). For a two-bedroom, an 8×15 or 10×15 ($95/month). For a three-bedroom house, a 10×20 ($130/month). All month to month, so you only pay for the weeks you're actually between houses.
Why the dates never line up
Closing on the sale and closing on the purchase almost never happen the same week. You get a rent-back for a few days, or the buyer needs to move in Friday and your new place isn't ready until the following month. Either way you're left holding a house worth of furniture and nowhere to put it.
Month-to-month storage solves it without drama. You're not signing a lease, you're not paying a deposit, and when the new place is ready you clear the unit and give notice. If it takes five weeks instead of three, nothing bad happens.
What size do I need for a move?
Sizing for a move is different from sizing for long-term storage, because you're putting an entire household in at once rather than adding boxes over time. Round up.

Packing a unit so you can actually get to things
Almost everyone loads a unit wrong the first time, and then spends the next two months climbing over a sofa to reach the box with the winter coats.
- Leave a centre aisle. Load down both sides and keep a walkway to the back. You will need something you didn't expect to need.
- Heavy and flat on the bottom, light on top. Appliances and furniture form the base; boxes stack on them.
- Label the side, not the top. Once boxes are stacked you can't read the tops.
- Disassemble what disassembles. Bed frames and table legs off buys you a size down, which pays for itself.
- Last in, first out. Whatever you'll want in week one goes by the door.

How much does a storage unit cost in Anderson, SC?

Do I have to buy insurance to rent a unit?
No. Ryder Mini Storage does not require tenant insurance, and we don't sell a policy you're obligated to buy.
This is unusual. Most storage operators — especially the national chains — either require you to purchase their protection plan or show proof of a homeowner's or renter's policy before they'll hand over the keys. We don't do either. If you want your belongings covered, check whether your existing renter's or homeowner's policy already extends to off-site storage; many do.
Are there any hidden fees or deposits?
No. The monthly rate you see is what you pay — there's no administrative fee, no setup fee, and no security deposit.
You're also not required to buy a lock from us at the counter. Bring your own disc lock, or pick one up wherever you like.
What size storage unit do I need?
Most people renting a one-bedroom apartment's worth of belongings need a 10×10, which holds a couch, a bed, a kitchen table, and roughly fifteen boxes.
Below that, a 5×10 handles a dorm room or studio. Above it, a 10×15 covers a two to three bedroom house, and a 10×20 fits a three-bedroom home or a car plus household goods. What are your gate access hours?
The gate is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day, including Sundays.
Business account holders can arrange 24-hour access. The office is staffed Monday through Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to noon, so if you need a person rather than a gate code, those are the hours to come by.
Can I drive right up to my storage unit?
Yes. Every self storage unit at Ryder is drive-up access with a roll-up door, so you can back a vehicle or trailer directly to the door and unload.
There are no elevators, no interior corridors, and no hauling things across a building. For anyone moving appliances or furniture without a crew, this is the single biggest difference between an easy afternoon and a miserable one.
